Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Wakeel (“we”, “us”, or “our”) processes personal data when you use our website and services. We designed our product so that identifiable personal data is kept to a minimum.

1. Data controller

Wakeel is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. For privacy requests, contact us via the contact options on our website and mark your message “Privacy request”.

2. Scope of this policy

This policy covers personal data we process in connection with your account and contacting you about your housing search. It does not cover third-party websites or services that we do not control.

3. Personal data we store

We only store the following personal data for the purpose of future contact with you:

  • Email address — so we can identify your account and reach you about your search.
  • Phone number — so we can message or call you (including via WhatsApp or an AI voice agent) about listings you asked us to follow up on.

We do not process non-anonymized user data beyond the email address and phone number described above. Search preferences, rankings, and similar product inputs are handled in an anonymized or non-identifying form and are not stored as personal data linked to your identity.

4. Purposes of processing

We use your email and phone number solely to contact you about your Wakeel search and related service communications you request (for example, confirming availability or arranging a call about shortlisted homes).

5. Legal bases (GDPR)

  • Consent — when you provide your phone number (including by messaging us a verification code on WhatsApp) and agree to be contacted or called about your shortlist.
  • Performance of a contract / steps prior to a contract — when we need your email to create and operate your account so we can provide the service you requested.
  • Legitimate interests — limited operational communications needed to run a secure service, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.

6. Recipients and processors

We may share your email or phone number with service providers that process data on our instructions only (for example authentication, messaging, or telephony providers) so we can contact you. We do not sell your personal data.

7. International transfers

If personal data is processed outside the European Economic Area, we rely on appropriate safeguards required by the GDPR, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision, where applicable.

8. Retention

We keep your email and phone number only for as long as needed to contact you about your search and to maintain your account, or until you ask us to delete them, whichever comes first—unless a longer period is required by law.

9. Your rights under the GDPR

Where the GDPR applies, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Rectify inaccurate personal data
  • Request erasure (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Restrict processing
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal
  • Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in section 1. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

10. Security

We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the limited personal data we hold, including access controls and encrypted connections where supported by our infrastructure.

11. Children

Wakeel is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided data to us, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the service after an update constitutes notice of the revised policy where permitted by law.
